He joined the faculty in the Department of Physics, University of British Columbia, Canada in 1980. His research interest spans broad areas of plasma science including parametric instabilities, physics of intense shock waves, strongly coupled plasma physics and its convergence with finite-temperature condensed matter physics in the so-called Warm Dense Matter regime. Since January 2003, he has joined the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, serving as the Scientific Director of the Jupiter Laser Facility in the Physical Sciences Directorate. Professor Ng is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and an IEEE Fellow. He is the recipient the IEEE Nuclear & Plasma Science Society Merit Award in 1997 and the LLNL Science & Technology Award in 2006. |
