J. Ryan Rygg received his B.S. in Physics (2000) and M.S. in Electrical Engineering (2001) from Stanford University. He then joined the High Energy Density Physics group at MIT, where he completed his thesis on shock convergence and mix dynamics in inertial confinement fusion (Ph.D. 2006), and, as a postdoc, performed experiments imaging inertial fusion implosions using monoenergetic proton radiography. He joined the V division at LLNL in September 2007.
