Paul Springer
holds a B.S. in physics from the University of California at San Diego and a Ph.D. in nuclear physics from Princeton University. He joined Lawrence Livermore in 1984 as a physicist in the Nuclear Chemistry Division while working on his thesis project, a measurement of the neutrino mass. He is currently leader of the Experiments Group and associate Physical Database Research Program leader in V Division of the Physics Directorate. He is the author or coauthor of many journal articles and presentations on high-energy-density plasma physics research. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the Department of Energy's Weapons Recognition of Excellence Award in 1994 and 1997 and a 1994 and 1996 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Physics and Space Technology Directorate. Current research interests include high-temperature plasmas, atomic processes in plasmas, astrophysics, x-ray spectroscopy, atomic physics, and neutrino physics.
